SHILLONG, APRIL 10: The North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy (NEIAH), an autonomous Institute under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, Mawdiangdiang, Shillong on Wednesday celebrated ‘World Homoeopathy Day’, to mark the 264th Birth Anniversary of Dr Samuel Hahnemann (Founder of Homoeopathy) in the Institute Campus under the theme “Linking Education and Clinical Practice in Homoeopathy”.
Addressing at the inaugural function as chief guest ,Prof (Dr) Samir Kumar Bhattacharyya, former Director, National Institute of Homoeopathy, Kolkata, spoke about the greatest challenge of Homoeopathic system, where pathways of action of Homoeopathic medicines are not yet established and he demonstrated the same by narrating clinical cases.
He added that learning the art of prescribing is the key to success in Homoeopathic practice than waiting for government to provide opportunities.
Dr Samir highlighted about the magnanimous personality of master Hahnemann and also stressed about integrating Ayurveda and Homoeopathic systems of medicine for a better outcome.
In her speech as guest of honour, Dr CAR Diengdoh, CDC, NEHU, Shillong commented on addressing the Challenges and Future Strategies of AYUSH systems of Medicines.
She wished all the success for upliftment and greater prospectus of NEIAH.
She stressed on 3 keys area of focus such as Academics, Research and Outreach Programs.
On the occasion, eight eminent Homoeopathic Physicians from the North East region were felicitated for their contribution in the field of homoeopathy.
These include Dr D Kharraswai, Registrar, State Board of Homoeopathic Medicine, Meghalaya, Dr Dhiren Ch Senapati, Ex-Principal Incharge, Dr JK Saikia Homoeopathic Medical College, Jorhat, Assam, Dr Sailendra Nath Kalita, Principal Incharge, Dr Dhiren Ch Das, Principal Incharge, Assam Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Assam, Dr BVS Murty, Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Science, Naharlagun, Arunachal Pradesh; Dr T Bendangtula, Assistant Director, I/C AYUSH, Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, Nagaland, Dr N Birkumar Singh, Ex-incharge RRI (CCRH) Manipur, Dr Mara S Thansiami, Deputy Director (AYUSH), Mizoram.
This was followed by distribution of prizes for the essay writing competition participated by the students of NEIAH.
Meanwhile, Prof (Dr) Samir Kumar Bhattacharyya delivered a lecture on the topic “Study of Homoeopathic Materia Medica aimed to Clinical Practice” while Dr N Birkumar Singh on the topic “Hurdles in Practice of Homoeopathy then and now” during a scientific programme organised as part of the occasion.
The session concluded by a note of thanks from the Director of NEIAH, Prof (Dr) PK Goswami.
