SHILLONG, MAR 13: Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui said the delay in releasing salary to Sarva Shisha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers was due to non receiving of fund from the Centre.
While salary of eight months for 2016-17 and four months during the current financial year is pending to the teachers, Rymbui said while replying in the Assembly here on Wednesday.
Expressing concern on the matter, opposition Congress legislator from Rajabala Dr Azad Zaman wanted to know the reason for government’s to utilize the corpus fund for clearing the teachers pending salaries.
The minister however informed that payment of four months salary was in fact being made from the corpus fund of the state.
On the proposal to release the salary on a monthly basis, Rymbui however said release of salary in time depends on fund availability.
“Salary is released immediately after receipt of fund from the Government,” he added.
Meanwhile, the minister informed that there was slight delay in supplying books due to transportation bottleneck.
