SHILLONG, MAR 11: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma today informed that three projects have been sanctioned under the North Eastern Council (NEC) in the state during 2018-19.
Replying in the Assembly here on Monday, Sangma said this include construction of boys and girls hostel of NEIMA’s Orphanage-cum-Boarding School at Lad Mynrieng, Pynursla, East Khasi Hills District at an estimated cost of Us 194 lakhs.
The others are construction of new building blocks for Master of Education at St Mary’s College of Teacher Education, Shillong at a cost of Us 334.18 lakhs and balance work for construction of Rymbai-Bataw-Borghat-Borsora-
“Rs 10 lakh for each project has been received (as first installment),” Sangma said.
Earlier while raising a supplementary question, opposition Congress legislator from Nongpoh Mayralborn Syiem sought to know the status of the 24 projects sanctioned during the year 2017-18, which were put on hold.
On this, the chief minister however said that the schemes have not been put on hold and confirmed that sanction for their implementation has already been released as well.
“The government has released Rs 87 crore in 2017-18 and of this Rs 51 crore was for ongoing schemes and Rs 36 crore for work of 2017-18 (schemes),” he said.
