SHILLONG, DEC 21: In a big catch, three persons including a woman were arrested along with over 30,000 Amphetamines tablets worth nearly Rs 3 crore from the city on Friday.
Acting on specific information that there were two people from Manipur staying in a hotel at police bazaar area, police immediately swung into action and arrested the alleged drug peddlers.
Superintendent of Police (City) SA Rynjah said that the accused persons admitted that they were indulging in selling drugs but said that they have kept the supply in a house at Madanrtinig Block I.
“On their leading, we conducted raid at the house owned by a local person and seized around 30,000 Amphetamines or WY tablets weighing 2kgs 900 grams which cost nearly Rs 3 crore,” he said.
Asked, the SP said preliminary investigation revealed that the drugs have come from outside the state and is meant for supplying in Shillong city.
He informed that a case has been registered and the three accused persons have been booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
