SHILLONG, SEPT 29: Meghalaya Information and Public Relations Minister, AL Hek today donated one month of his salary towards the Kerala Chief Minister’s Flood Relief Fund.
Hek handed over a cheque of Rs 2,04,000 to Kerala Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan at the latter’s office in the State Secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram.
It was well received by the Kerala Chief Minister who expressed his gratitude to Hek. He expressed hope that the “already existing warm and cordial relations between people from ‘God’s own Country’ and those from the ‘Abode of the Clouds’ will only grow stronger”.
Hek said he was “happy to represent the people of Meghalaya” by handing over a token amount of support towards the people of Kerala. He said upon completion of the ongoing donation drive to the Meghalaya Chief Minister’s Flood Relief Fund, the same will be handed over to the Kerala Chief Minister.
“I am also very happy to visit the home state of a dear elder brother (L) MM Jacob who as the longest ever serving Governor in India, had served the people of Meghalaya for 12 long years,” Hek stated.
The Minister was accompanied by Christopher Rani, the CEO of CR Projects, a Shillong based multi-faceted company. With a current annual turnover of Rs 45 Crore, CR Projects deals in trading and mining of metals & minerals, cultivation & trading of agro commodities, IT, shipping and transport services and events.
