SHILLONG, AUG 11: Minister in-charge, Sports and Youth Affairs Banteidor Lyngdoh today inaugurated the Health and Wellness Centre, Jongksha PHC under Ayushman Bharat Yojana.
Addressing on the occasion, Lyngdoh stressed on the importance of maintaining health and hygiene even as he said that material riches are of no value when one is unhealthy. The Minister also said that no family is happy in the absence of health and wellness.
The Minister also called upon all stake holders including civil society and the public to co-operate with the Government by actively participating in its various schemes, programmes and activities.
It may be mentioned that the Ayushman Bharat Yojana which was launched by the Prime Minister of India aims to transform Sub-centres and Primary Health Centres into Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs) in the country for implementing public health programmes, better comprehensive primary health care service delivery including diseases prevention and health promotion.
Also present at the inaugural function were LT Tariang, BDO, Mawkynrew CR&D Block, Dr. T.S Nongkhlaw, Director of Health Services (MCH&FW) cum Joint Mission Director, NHM, Meghalaya, Dr. P.Kharpran, Medical and Health Officer, Jongksha PHC, O.Kharsohnoh, Headman, Jongksha Village, various officials of the Health Department, ASHAs, elders and residents of the area.
