SHILLONG, JULY 7: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will chair the 67th Plenary meeting of the North Eastern Council (NEC) to be held at the State Convention Centre in the city on July 9.
The meeting will also be attended by the Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Dr Jitendra Singh, members of NEC and others.
In this two-day programme, various presentations on issues related to all round development of North Eastern Region will take place.
Some of the major issues to be discussed are, Ways and means of completing long-pending projects in NEC in a specific time
frame, Transformation of the 14 Aspirational Districts/ Gram Swaraj
Abhiyan (GSA- 1 & 2) in NER, Strengthening Livelihood Programmes in NE Region, Water Resources Management in NER, Catchment Area Treatment in NER through afforestation, Doubling Farmers’ Income by 2022 in NER, Road Connectivity in NER, ‘POSHAN ABHIYAAN’ ‘AYUSHMAN BHARAT’, Security related matters pertaining to North Eastern States etc.
The Plenary will also discuss continuation of NEC Schemes till March, 2020 as approved by the cabinet in March 2018.
