SHILLONG, JUNE 26: Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) has finalised the names of two candidates for the upcoming elections to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) to be held next year.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the party’s central executive committee (CEC) held in the city here on Tuesday.
“With an aim to strengthen the party ahead of the 2019 MDC elections, we have decided to finalise the names of two candidates of the party from Mawkhar-Pynthorumkhrah and Jaiaw constituencies,” CEC chairman James MA Neng said in a statement issued here.
KHNAM vice president Thomas Passah will be contesting from Jaiaw, a constituency presently represented by KHNAM working president Adelbert Nongrum, who is also newly elected MLA from North Shillong constituency, while Rocky Hek will be contesting from Mawkhar-Pynthorumkhrah constituency, he said.
Earlier, the party has received 3 applications from Jaiaw constituency and 5 from Mawkhar-Pynthorumkhrah constituency.
Meanwhile, the chairman informed that the party would soon release its first list of candidates for the upcoming MDC elections.
