SHILLONG, MAY 18: Minister in-charge of Information and Public Relations, AL Hek today said that the newly constructed building of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations is likely to be inaugurated within this year.
“We wanted to ensure that the building is fully completed within this year and its inauguration should be before Christmas or after the New Year,” Hek told reporters after conducting an inspection to the DIPR’s new office building at Lachumiere here on Friday.
He said that the foundation stone for the construction of the building was laid in 2016 at a cost of Rs 9 crore.
Asked, the minister expressed that he is satisfied to see that the work is progressing very fast. He informed that the building will also house other offices including passport, civil task force and the press club.
“The building will also have a guest house at the top floor as part of the government’s preparation for the National Games to be held in 2022,” Hek said.
