SHILLONG, MAY 14: Governor Ganga Prasad visited Mawkyrwat today and held a review meeting with all the district heads of South West Khasi Hills District, Mawkyrwat at the Multi Purpose Hall, office of the Deputy Commissioner, Mawkyrwat with regards to the implementation of schemes and projects in the district.
The meeting was attended by Mawkyrwat MLA RL Tongkhar, Deputy Commissioner Isawanda Laloo and SP HG Lyngdoh besides other officials.
Prasad assured that he has taken note of the importance and needs of the district.
He said that he would address to the problems of road connectivity as roads is a lifeline and a backbone that adds to the economy of the people.
He urged upon officers to work in tandem with the representatives and district administration in the implementation of schemes and projects for the welfare of the people and in taking the district to greater heights.
He said that officials should take keen initiatives in looking after the villagers, especially farmers and to provide them with innovative ideas and solutions in doubling their income. He laid great stress on the overall development of the villagers as they need special care and attention.
He underlined the potentialities and resources that Meghalaya has and how to develop these potentialities which would benefit farmers.
The governor also advised to take up Mushroom and Tomatoes cultivation and convert them into a food processing Unit and other livelihood activities. He expected that much will be achieved through this forum by calling upon officers to work hard with determination and dedication.
