In a letter of complaint to the Returning Officer on Friday, Pawan Sharma said that Chaudhuri has done the act in the capacity of being the managing trustee of Ardhendu Chaudhuri Charitable Trust.
He alleged that the Trust distributing family identity card for BPL families in the constituency and has been providing them with free of cost rice (5kg), dal (1kg), oil (500ml) and potato (1kg) from ration shop owned by Pradeep Rana at Jhalupara.
Terming the action as nothing but only a political gimmick during the time of election to woo the electorate, Sharma said, “I humbly request you to take stern action against him for violating the MCC as he is still distributing the forms for issuing new family IDs as well as providing ration to the poor people of the constituency and to restrain him from further distributing new family identity card.”
Stating that distributing of ration to BPL families and issuing of BPL family identity card is the sole responsibility of the district administration, he however said Chaudhuri has resorted to the tactics of issuing the same in the name of the charitable trust which is highly illegal.
“Moreso, when the model code of conduct is in force and the act of Chaudhuri also amounts to giving bribe with the sole intention to influence the voters,” he stated in the letter.
