SHILLONG, DEC 9: Union Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreurship Dharmendra Pradhan today emphasized the need to create a skill eco-system in Meghalaya and the North East region.
Speaking at the function for signing of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the National Skills Development Commission and Assam Rifles, Pradhan highlighted the fact that retired Assam Rifles personnel are a pool of highly disciplined and skilled individuals.
“It is important to tap this resource,” he said.
The MoU will pave the way for retiring Assam Rifles personnel towards a second career based on prior learning and experience. Approximately 1200 personnel who retire annually from Assam Rifles stand to gain from this MoU.
The signing of the MOU was also held in the presence of Lt Gen Shokin Chauhan, AVSM, YSM,SM, VSM, Director General Assam Rifles besides senior officials from Assam Rifles, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreurship and NSDC.
The Union Minister also promised to setup a mechanism to improve the supply of Fuel and Petroleum products to meet the needs of the force which is deployed in far flung corners of North East.
Pradhan also laid a wreath at the Assam Rifles War Memorial and paid homage to the Martyrs.
