SHILLONG, NOV 23: The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) State Youth Wing today sought strict action an employee for allegedly selling liquor in the police canteen at Mawiong.
In a letter to the Commandant of the 1st Battalion, youth wing social secretary Connie Thangkhiew said a sweeper of the department Ramesh Daom is alleged to engage in selling liquor from police wet canteen, MLP Mawiong to civilians belonging to the nearby localities.
He said that this has affected the various households located around the MLP Mawiong 1st Battalion adding that complaints have been received from various families and ladies of the areas affected.
Stating that this is against the rules and discipline of the Battalion, Thangkhiew said while police department are carrying out raid and checks on illegal sale of liquor in Polo area and other parts of the city, it would be very discouraging if sale of liquor is allowed in the premises of the department itself.
“Therefore, it is requested that the concern employee be interrogated and strict action be taken against him,” he stated in the complaint.
