“We are aware that the dirty tricks department of the Congress party, which is adopting a strategy of spit and run by putting out false and fabricated rumours on the social media that affects the communal balance of Meghalaya,” BJP national spokesman Nalin Kohli told reporters here on Wednesday.
He said all those people who are spreading lies on this entire so-called beef issue they are responsible of trying to communal the situation.
Alleging the Mukul Sangma led government of bringing such issue to the forefront, Kohli said, “This is because they (Congress) are petrified and scared to death with the three years of Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas of Narendra Modi.”
“They have no track record in their tenure. Mukul cannot speak of either development or performance. His tenure will be known as a tenure which even within Congress leaders are most unhappy with it, forget the people of Meghalaya,” he added.
Kohli also alleged that the Mukul is having time to build a house for himself to live in but no time to build the State Assembly, which has been gutted a decade ago and due to such priority, the people of Garo Hills defeated him when his wife was the candidate (MP bye-election).
He said that the Prime Minister in three years is working relentlessly on three things – “We are government of those who vote for us and those who don’t vote for us, those who stand besides us and against us and there is love and affection for each and every Indians.”
“However, the problem is that Dr Mukul Sangma has an agenda of not sabka sath sabka vikas, it is apna vikas or apne pariwar ka vikas. His entire development is focus on him and growth of his family members,” he added.
Earlier the state BJP has also decided to file an FIR under the IT Law on the alleged spreading of false rumour about the party.
Stating that the BJP is serious about the forthcoming 2018 state elections, Kohli said, “We want a good government in Meghalaya and it is my open challenge that Dr Sangma you can create false beef problem and rumours about the BJP on communal agenda but we don’t have it.”
The BJP leader also alleged that the Congress party wants to fight the next election by creating confusion.
“But we want to fight the elections on a positive agenda and will debate with the Congress party head on when elections comes,” he said.
Also claiming that BJP is doing its homework to debate on development in Meghalaya, he said, “If he (Mukul) has the guts he can debate with me one on one. But I tell you Mukul will run away from this as we will show him what happened in the states under BJP governments.”
Meanwhile in a bid to dispel the negative notion, Kohli also informed that in his next visit to the state, he is planning to meet the church leaders and students of different universities to have a direct interaction on the issue.
According to him, the BJP has said clearly the question of having a law on cow slaughter is to be decided by the state not the Centre.
He added that every state government that finally decides whether to have a law or not have a law on this does so keeping in mind the food habit of the people.
Referring to the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Regulation of Livestock Markets) Rules, 2017, the BJP spokesperson said the notification which has come was based on a Supreme Court order and that there no word beef ban in the notification.
Stating that the Act was enacted by then Congress led UPA government, he said, “If the Congress party wants to complaint they should do against those leaders of their party who brought the Act.”
According to him, the BJP cannot be blamed for implementing the law, which the Congress party enacted and which Supreme Court has asked to make the rules.
