Nongpoh, Nov 09: Delay in the release of compensation to the Step Up Secondary School in Umden (Umroi) by the state government for taking away the land for expansion of the Umroi airport has irked the school authority.
The Step Up Secondary School, Umden was established in the year 2004 by the Seng Samla Umden Pyllun with the aim of imparting quality education to the children of the area. But at present the school institution having 16 teachers and more than 300 children but now the school is facing a problem as the school premises is used for expansion of Umroi Airport.
Talking to the reporter, G. Pyrtuh, president of Seng Samla Umden Pyllun and the chairman of the School Managing Committee said, “The school authority of Step Up Secondary School Umden run by the Seng Samla Shnong Umden Pyllun is irked by the failure of the state government to release the compensation package despite several demand made by the affected land own
Firing salvo to the state government, the school authority has asked the state government to take up the responsibility of paying the teachers and imparting education to the school children, if the school institution has to be close because of the delay in releasing the compensation.
Pyrtuh also pointed out that “It was not an easy task for shifting the school in a short period of time if the school building has to be dismantling for the expansion of airport”. For this reason he said that the school authority of Step Up Secondary School, Umden urged the state government to release the compensation package so that the school authority could find another site for the construction of school building.- By Our Reporter
