State to take possession of Kolkata Meghalaya house after paying Rs 24 crore

Shillong, Nov 8: Asian Housing Construction Ltd (AHCL) will be handing over the Kolkata Meghalaya House by December as soon as the Meghalaya government pays the remaining Rs 24 crore as the construction balance.

AHLC director Hariram Garg told reporters Thursday, “We would hand over the possession of Meghalaya House in Kolkata tentatively by December.”  He said ninety-eight per cent of the work has been completed and only certain delays like electricity connection and others which would be taken up with concerned departments.

Garh said, “The project would be fully complete by March next year.”

Meghalaya General Administrative Department (GAD) minister AL Hek said, “The state cabinet has decided to take possession the Meghalaya House in Kolkata from its builders, the Asian Housing Construction Ltd (AHCL) after the construction was almost complete and by clearing all due.,”

Hek informed that the supplementary agreement with the AHCL was signed by the government Thursday.“The remaining amount of Rs 24 crores have been agreed to be paid to the company,” he said.

The total cost of construction was initially pegged at Rs 22 crore which has now escalate to around Rs 49 crores after changing of design of the building on several occasions.

Meghalaya government earlier paid Rs 25 crore to the builders.- By Our Reporter
