SHILLONG, MAR 10: Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma today informed that the rehabilitation package to cadres of the disbanded ANVC (B) could not be released due to failure on the part of the outfit’s cadres to submit their savings bank accounts.
“This is the actual position as the amount which has already been sanctioned could not be disbursed to the respective cadres and there is no point in blaming the government,” Sangma said in the Assembly.
An amount of Rs 2.37 crore was sanctioned for payment of rehabilitation package and stipend to the 139 cadres of the disbanded outfit, he said.
Sangma informed that till date, the disbursement of the rehabilitation package could be made only to 11 out of 139 cadres whose savings bank account details were found to be proper.
“Out of the other savings bank accounts which were submitted, 53 cases have been sent for minor corrections and 74 cadres are yet to submit details of their savings bank accounts,” he said.
Moreover, he said authorities concerned have been directed to get in touch with these cadres on a regular basis and ensure whatever is due to them is provided once they fulfill all the requirements in respect to bank accounts.
Meanwhile, Sangma said that Rs 5.50 crore was already disbursed to 363 cadres of the disbanded ANVC.
Initially, he said, the total cadres of the ANVC were 367. However, 3 of them were unwilling to avail the government package while one had reportedly expired.
Sangma also informed that Rs 77.7 lakh was paid as stipend for 367 cadres at the rate of Rs 3500 for each for a period of 6 months.
The amount was utilized through the deputy commissioner for training and counseling of the disbanded ANVC cadres, he said
