SHILLONG, JAN 19: In yet another gang rape case, a twenty-one year old woman was raped by three persons including an auto-rickshaw driver in a village under Ri Bhoi district on January 13, police said.
The incident took place at Nongtraw village. Police while acting on the complaint lodged by the victim’s grandparents have arrested the alleged rapists.
They have been identified as Kyrshan Lyngdoh Marbaniang, Meljohn Ramshon and Ropsing Nongpluh.
This is the fourth gang-rape reported only during the month of January.
The other three include gang-raped of 17 year old girl by six persons at Mawmang in Mawrynkneng on January 1 besides two other minors were also gang raped in South West Khasi Hills and West Garo Hills.
Meanwhile in view of the rising crimes against women and children, the state government has also assured speeding up setting up of the special courts to ensure expeditious delivery of justice.
