SHILLONG, DEC 27: A seven year old boy, who was abducted for ransom from his village in Uttar Pradesh, was rescued by the state police from a city hotel even as they arrested the couple responsible for kidnapping. East Khasi hills SP M Kharkrang said that the district police received information from Sultanpur police of Uttar Pradesh that a 7 year old boy was kidnapped from Jhuara village and the kidnappers were suspected to be in Shillong.
Stating that kidnappers demanded ransom for the release of the boy, he said the city police immediately alerted and officers of Sadar police station along with special cell were able to locate the presence of the kidnappers at Police Bazaar area.
“The boy was rescued from one of the hotels in Police Bazaar area after checking was made,” Kharkrang said while informing that the two persons involved in the case were also arrested.
The kidnappers have been identified as Shyamsundar Shitala Prasad Shukla and his wife Shalini Shyamsundar Shukla both from Nongmynsong, he said. He informed both were arrested earlier by Shillong Police in a similar criminal case.
