SHILLONG, NOV 15: A headman was Tuesday arrested for his alleged involvement in the murder of a 32 year old woman, whose body was recovered from near Umiam view point at Mawiongrim on Monday.
Donbor Rymbai (41), who is the headman of Liarkhla village in Ri Bhoi district, was picked up by Umroi police on Tuesday after he was suspected to be the prime accused in the murder of the woman.
He was later handed over to Mawlai police station.
According to police sources, the accused was booked under Mawlai PS case no 98 (11) 2016 U/S 302/201 IPC.
The murdered woman has been identified as Rosemary Mawlong (32) of Sumer village in Ri Bhoi district. She was the mother three siblings. Her body was found at Mawiongrim, Ryndangbriew by the road side by passerby who immediately informed the police.
Post mortem was conducted at NEIGRIHMS hospital, Shillong yesterday and today the dead body was handed over to her relatives.
In a statement, East Khasi hills SP M Kharkrang said the investigation has been jointly conducted by East Khasi Hills police and Ri-Bhoi district police.
