Resident hands over stolen gold, cash

SHILLONG, OCT 13: In a rare case of honesty, a resident of  Upper Jail Road handed over stolen gold ornaments and cash worth Rs 1.50 lakh he found in his compound.

The resident identified as Swapan Paul handed over gold and cash to the Sardar police station.

Paul told the police that he had found the gold ornaments and cash in the compound on the intervening night of October 12 and 13, police said.

Police said an FIR was also lodged by one Manik Paul of Jail Road that some gold and cash was stolen by miscreants. In this regard, one Dilip Nath, who was allegedly involved in the theft case has been arrested.-By Our Reporter
