Headmen to attend meet

SHILLONG, AUG 30: A delegation of headmen under the banner of the Synjuk Ki Nongsynshar Shnong Ka Bri U Hynniewtrep (SNSBH) will attend a meeting convened by the chief minister Mukul Sangma on Wednesday. According to the SNSBH leaders, issues relating to delay in the approving the KHAD (Village Administration) Bill, 2015, the alleged MUDA encroachment and other issues will be taken up during the proposed meeting slated tomorrow.

The SNSBH leaders in a meeting held earlier this year had staged a walk out as a mark of protest against the decision to direct the government servants to furnish information about their holding office in traditional bodies, through the amended Meghalaya Services (Conduct) Rules.

The SNSBH had also demanded denotifying the amended service rules on government servants holding post of headmen, which may again be taken up in the meeting tomorrow.-By Our Reporter
