SHILLONG, AUG 2: KHADC chief executive member PN Syiem on Tuesday said he has nothing against anybody in the Congress party and informed he did not made demand for change of leadership during his meeting with the AICC leaders on Tuesday.

Syiem he was more concerned about the wrong policies of the state Congress, of which he is also a member, and added “Therefore if the state government has failed to live up to the expectation of the people, I would leave it to the wisdom of the AICC to decide.”

After his meeting with AICC observer Mukul Wasnik and AICC general secretary in-charge Meghalaya CP Joshi during the one-on- one meeting,  Syiem, said he sought the AICC’s intervention on the alleged “wrong policies” of the Congress led Meghalaya United Alliance (MUA-II) government.

Syiem said he expressed his concerns on the wrong policies of the state government, which has failed to protect the interest of the indigenous community.

Highlighting on the various issues which he claimed the state government has failed, Syiem pointed out the issue concerning the NGT’s ban on coal mining, alleged encroachment by MUDA, the government’s claim of ownership over land falling under British Territory, dual posts and others.

Syiem said, “These are the policies which needs to be address as the people are not against the Congress but are against the agenda of the state government.”  According to him, the issue is not change of leadership but the party have to understand what is important is its agenda.-By Our Reporter
