SHILLONG, JUNE 8: The state government has directed the District Transport Officers (DTOs) in the state to take over as many as 10 weighbridges from Wednesday because of the lessees’ failure to complete payment of pending dues.
In an order issued on Tuesday, State Commissioner of Transport IW Ingty said, “The concerned district transport officers are hereby directed to immediately takeover the weighbridges positively by June 8, until further orders.”
He also added, “The order is in continuation of the office order dated April 29 and is in compliance to government’s order and for reasons of failure by concerned lessee to complete all pending payment of government dues.”
The weighbridges to be taken over by the DTOs are those in West Jaintia Hills District, West Khasi Hills District, East Jaintia Hills District, Garo Hills and Ri Bhoi District.
These include – Chela Pala, Licensee of Dawki, weighbridge, Amstrong Paliar – Mawpun weighbridge, MS Nongbri – Bagli, weighbridge, Haphibansuk Wankhar – Borsora weighbridge, Badapkupar Marbaniang – Ratacherra weighbridge, Patricia Sympli – Byndihati weighbridge, Tangkam M Sangma – Gasuapara weighbridge, G Handerson Syiemlieh – Cherragoan weighbridge, Memjulet Passah – 7th Mile weighbridge and Gavin M Mylliem – Umling weighbridge.
The commissioner has also directed the respective DTOs to submit the report of taking over immediately for further information of the government.-By Our Reporter
