SHILLONG, JUNE 8: The Post Graduate Students’ Union (PGSU) of the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) – Tura campus on Wednesday expressed concern over the delay in disbursement of scholarship to the students.
In a statement, the PGSU said, “Delaying in disbursement of scholarship greatly affects the academic careers of the students as new admissions, new books and other requirements of the students cannot be met in time.”
It stated that the new admissions are taking place in the state but the most awaited scholarship is yet to be disbursed for the students by the government.
According to the union, the government should understand that the scholarship is meant to help the students for further studies but students are deprived of these facilities.
Stating that other states already received scholarships for the session 2014-15, it however said, “But Meghalaya has disburse the same which shows that government of Meghalaya is not interested to develop the educational scenario of the state.”
There are many students who are eagerly waiting for their scholarships but remain hopeless, the union said while demanding that the authorities should take steps and give it a top priority.-By Our Reporter
