SHILLONG, JUNE 7: The national award winning Khasi film Onaatah will run for fifth and final week in the two cinema halls in Shillong before it travels to other parts of Khasi and Jaintia hills for screening. In Shillong it will be shown till June 16th.
The producers had invested Rs 27 lakhs in production and another Rs 5 lakhs in publicity, making it one of the most expensive Khasi films to be produced so far.
More than forty two thousand strong audiences watched the film, both in Bijou and Anjalee cinema halls, but the producers decided to pull out the film because of depreciating turn out.
The producers also said it is their desire to take the film to the rural masses that have been unable to travel to Shillong and to West Khasi hills, East Khasi hills, Ri- Bhoi and Jaintia Hills districts respectively.”
The producers also expressed their gratitude to Shankar Goenka of Goenka Enterprises, Arvind Goenka of Anjalee Galleria and Kishen Goenka of Bijou cinema for their support by showcasing the film.-By Our Reporter
