TURA, MAY 22: The 5th edition of the HR conclave – SYNERGOS, organised by Department of Management and Department of Agri Business and Food Technology North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Tura Campus concluded on Saturday.
The objective of the conclave was to bring together business leaders, HR practitioners and the academia across a wide range of industries to facilitate sharing of their experiences and knowledge.
“The department has been able to attract reputed business houses through on and off campus placement every year wherein our students get a platform to showcase their learned lessons and experiences that they attained from their curricula to their potential recruiters”, said Abhigyan Bhattacharjee, associate professor and placement co-ordinator.
This year’s theme was – “Skilling the unskilled – Handling the corporate dilemma”.
The daylong conclave was inaugurated by NEHU vice chancellor Prof Sri Krishna Srivastava in presence of centre in-charge and conclave director Prof G. Singaiah.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Srivastava said that the conclave would benefit the students, who are potential managers and budding entrepreneurs.
Executive director of IOCL, Bongaigaon Assam ED Khongwir emphasised the significance among youths, particularly of north east. In his address he underlined the contribution of IOCL in the training and development of executives.
DGM (HR) Power Grid Corporation of India AK Borthakur motivated the present batch of students to work steadfastly towards upgrading themselves and invited them to join his organization, just as students of previous batches had been recruited through the placement cell of the university.
Resource persons from various corporate houses such as Flugalsoft, Vet Helpline Pvt. Ltd., Pragati Edutech Pvt. Ltd., HDFC Bank among other private and public sector banks, participated in the three sessions of the conclave followed after the inaugural function.
The first session was titled “Bridging Skill and Competency gaps- Balancing of expectations between corporate houses with newly minted Graduates”; the topic for the second session was “Job Fitment Vrs Talent Retention- Handling of Attrition Level among new recruits”; the third session was on “Demographic dividend- “Harnessing the Unique Talent of Youths of North-East India.”-From Our Correspondent
