SHILLONG, APR 9: A lady was detained for allegedly duping a person promising him a government job in the forest department by her husband. Barita Lyngdoh, a resident of Nongbah Marshillong, Mawkyrwat in South West Khasi hills was detained by the city police after she was involved in duping one Kerni Suting, police said.
However, her husband Heman Malang of Jowai, West Jaintia Hills District, who is the mastermind, is yet to be arrested, police said. Malang had taken Rs 30, 000 from Suting promising to give a government job in the forest department.
According to police, his wife was asked to collect another Rs 40, 000 on Friday from the victim.
An FIR has been lodged by the victim. Later the FIR was registered at Jowai, where the money transaction took place. Malang, according to police, also has several cases of similar nature in Jaintia hills against him.- By Our Reporter
