SHILLONG, MAR 22: The state government is waiting to get the approval of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) for declaration of three new national highways in Meghalaya.
“We are waiting for the approval of the ministry before the department going for land acquisition,” state PWD minister Sniawbhalang Dhar told the assembly on Tuesday.
While replying to a supplementary query raised by UDP legislator Jemino Mawthoh, the minister informed that the proposals was submitted to the ministry on July 2014.
The state roads proposed as new national highways include Mawngap (Junction with NH-40E)-Mawphlang-Weiloi-Mawsynram-Balat Junction-Umpung-Ranikor with a total length of 103.55 km, Umtyngar (Junction with NH-40)-Sohra-Laittyra-Mawlong-Ichamati-Bholaganj-(Zero Point) of 72.45 km and Jowai (Junction with NH-44)-Nartiang-Kdiap-Khanduli of 60.00 km, he said.-By Our Reporter
