SHILLONG, FEB 26: Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pynshngainlang Syiem on Friday tabled the budget allocation of Rs 16.02 crore at the first day of the budget session.
However, the budget allocation was only for three months (vote on account) as the full budget allocation for 2016 – 2017 cannot be calculated until the financial year ending.
“The vote on account for the three months starts from April 1, 2016 to June 30, 2016, which will ensure the smooth functioning of the council”, Syiem said while presenting the budget.
Syiem also informed the house that vote on account budget presented also aims at disbursing the salaries of members of the council, chairperson, deputy chairman, leader of opposition, executive members (EMs), officers and staffs of the different departments (executive, legislative and judicial) of the council.
Besides, the interim budget will also help the council to meet the various other expenditures to ensure the smooth functioning of the council, he added.
According to the budget allocation, of the Rs 16,02,,37,980 estimated, Rs 373,15,560 was allocated for General Administration Department, Rs 9,56,450 – Law Department, Rs 1,12,18,360– Revenue Budget & Finance Department, Rs 1,44,71,610– Forest Administration Department, Rs 69, 42, 250 – Administration of Justice & Judicial Department, Rs 83,45,290– Legislative Department, Rs 2,08,670 – Education Department, Rs 7,24,78,610– Civil Works & Development Department and Rs 83,01,180 – Enforcement Scheme for protection of Tribal Land & Interest.
Meanwhile, Syiem further assured the house that the full budget allocation would be put up in the next session in June.- By Our Reporter
