SHILLONG, FEB 11: A tourist-taxi driver was on Thursday detained after he hit the official vehicle of the Chief Minister Mukul Sangma, who was on his to the helipad at Upper Shillong. Fortunately, chief minister who was travelling in his official vehicle (black Honda) was not injured in the incident, police said.
The incident happened at around 1.30 pm when the Armada taxi driven by one JL Mawdoh hit the moving official vehicle of the chief minister at 3rd Mile, Upper Shillong, police said. A case has been taken up against the driver while his vehicle was also seized, district SP M Kharkrang said. He said, “We have detained the driver and we will investigate whether the incident was intentional or not.”
Meanwhile, the chief minister had gone to the helipad to leave for Delhi via Guwahati for attending an important summit. Earlier before leaving for Delhi, the Chief Minister had attended and addressed the golden jubilee celebration of the Shillong Polytechnic at Mawlai.- By Our Reporter
