SHILLONG, JAN 15: An imposter posing as a policeman who duped a woman of Rs 3 lakhs was arrested for promising her a government job in the district jail. The imposter identified as Jester Syiemlieh of Lumsyiap Block- duped Yomika Rabon, a resident of Nongmynsong Langkyrding after the latter filed an FIR against him.
Police immediately acted on the FIR filed by Rabon and arrested Jester Syiemlieh and legal action is being initiated against him.
SP (City) Vivek Syiem also said, “Any person having similar complaints against the above named imposter may lodged their written complain either at their nearest police station or to this office.” He also requested the public not to fall prey to such fraudsters who offer jobs in lieu of cash.
As per the FIR lodged on Friday, Rabon, informed that on October 26, last year, Jester Syiemlieh approached her and introduced himself as a policeman having links with high officials.
Rabon said he offered her a job as warden in district jail but demanded an amount of Rs 4,00,000 in cash. Accordingly, she paid him an amount of Rs 3,11,000 in cash in various occasions but later she came to know that he is an imposter and immediate lodged a complaint.-By Our Reporter
