Shillong, Oct 11 : Brimming with confidence after the win against a formidable side such as Mohun Bagan, Shillong Lajong FC is looking forward to once again bag three full points as they host Federation Cup semifinalists Salgaocar SC in a round II match of the I-League 2012-13 here at the JN Sports Complex tomorrow.
The Goans on the other hand who were beaten by Sikkim United FC will look forward to open their account for the season. “I wanted to go back home with at least four points but the defeat in Sikkim has frustrated us and we will go all out to win the match” Karim Bencherifa the coach of the 2010-11 champions said.
“The boys are home sick as they have been away from home for the past 20 day. First we played the Federation Cup at Jamshedpur, then in Siliguri and then we moved to Sikkim for our opening I League match and now we are here in Shillong,” stated Karim.
When asked for his take on the host team Lajong FC he replied, “They are a good side and they play physical game.”
The local lads will obviously be banking on home support which has remained their steadfast twelfth player since the time they entered the I League. And the good old rain is also expected to play a major role in favour of the hosts.
Another factor bolstering Lajong FC’s chances this time round is the induction of North Korean Minchol Son who has added more teeth to the defense line which has been a major concern for the team.
Coach Desmond Bulpin expressed hope that his lads will repeat their inaugural game performance. “The boys are fit and I am sure they will put in their very best the way they played against Mohun Bagan”.
The match kicks off at 2:30 pm.
