SHILLONG, DEC 2: After the leakage of the Science & Technology subject for Class IX Internal Promotion Examination just a week back, the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) is again the in eye of the story as the Modern Indian Language (MIL) Khasi paper was also leaked hours before the examination on Wednesday morning
The latest leakage has prompted the Federation of Khasi-Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) to demand for an independent inquiry into the frequent leakage of question papers and nab the culprits responsible.
Some students studying in different schools in and around the Seng Khasi in Jaiaw were spotted displaying the original question papers that were clicked and circulated through “Watsapp”, a popular mobile application.
The incident happened at around 7.30 am to 8 am, before the examination for the Khasi paper which started at 10 am today.
On being informed about the leakage of the Khasi question paper, FKJGP members immediately went to Jaiaw area and even got the paper that was leaked transferred to their mobile.
“It is an irony that the incident had happened again despite the fact that the MBoSE is still under the process of investigating into the recent paper leakage on Science & Technology,” FKJGP central body education secretary Kitboklang Nongphlang told reporters.
He also said, “We now suspect that may be the leakage is not only on these two papers, but in all the subjects.” According to him, while the first incident could be taken as a mistake but the second incident proves the leakage is intentional.
While pressurizing the MBoSE authority to immediately complete the inquiry into the leakage, Nongphlang, however, said, “If this inquiry is not found satisfactory, we would be compelled to demand for thorough independent inquiry to ensure that this menace is nip in the bud and those responsible be punished and booked as per law.”
Saying that the blame should be shouldered by MBoSE for its failure to stop it, Nongphlang said, “We also equally blame the teachers of those schools designated as deposit centres who are responsible behind the leakage.”
Admitting that such incident is an attempt to encourage corruption in the education system, Nongphlang said, “Teachers are supposed to teach students the values and importance of hard work, which is the only way to success in life.”
In addition, FKJGP East Khasi hills district president Elton Warjri said, “We also suspect involvement of officials from the MBoSE and the deposit centres.”
Warjri said if such frequent leakage is allowed to continue, it will cast shadow of doubt in the minds of the students and parents against the education system followed in the state. He said, “We demand an inquiry and strong action against the culprits.”
FKJGP is also demanding to reschedule the Khasi paper examination again as was done for the Science & Technology subject, which was rescheduled from November 30 to December 4.-By Our Reporter
