SHILLONG, SEPT 16: Shillong Lajong FC was held to a goalless draw by Shillong United FC on a wet and rainy Wednesday afternoon in the ongoing Shillong Premeir League Super Division, at the JN Stadium.
When the referee kicked off the game Lajong youngsters looked calm and composed with confidence brimming as they continue to remain favourites to retain the title this year.
However, as the rain poured heavily during match it had a big impact wherein the players of both teams were not able to display their talent and hence their display on the pitch was below par.
Lajong had the majority of the ball possession throughout the game and could have scored on a number of occasions but Shillong United FC defended well to deny all of Lajong’s attempts on goal.
As the rain stopped in the second half, both teams started to also pick up the rhythm but as luck would have it, neither side were able to break the deadlock for the day and the match ended all square.
Towards the end of the match, Lajong had their last chance to find the back of the net, after an intended cross from Ksankupar Khongmalia, coming from the left flank, almost sneaked into the far post.
With this draw, defending champion Lajong who are on top of the table remain undefeated, and are on 10 points from four outings. The Reds will take on Malki Sports Club this Saturday at the JN Stadium at 3:30pm.-By Our Reporter
