SHILLONG, AUG 10: Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) Chief Executive Officerhas directed all meat and butcher shops including chicken sellers, that the items of meat on display shall have to be properly and hygienically covered to avoid contamination of the food items.
The SMB warned that anyone found displaying meat openly after 30 days from the date of the notice will be penalized accordingly to the Meghalaya Municipal Act 1973 and other relevant laws.
Further, the SMB also informed all households in the city that discharge of sewage and excreta into drains and water bodies is illegal and anyone found doing so will be liable to be penalized as per provisions of Section 216 of the Meghalaya Municipal Act 1973.- By Our Reporter
