SHILLONG, AUG 5: The Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress (MPYC) on Wednesday protested the suspension of its 25 Lok Sabha MPs because they voiced dissent against the corruption tainted BJP ministers, namely Sushma Swaraj, Vasundhara Raje and Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
The MPYC said it is becoming increasingly clear that the Modi/ BJP government is systematically ushering an era of dictatorship and curtailment of the freedom and fundamental rights of the citizens of India by trying to control what one eats, reads or sees.
The MPYC cited the example of Gharwapsi, ngos ban, beef ban, land bill, Gajendra controversy, porn ban, etc. The party said, “Is this the idea of development the people voted for? Youth
MPYC iterated it will be against such dictatorship and said Congress MPs have been suspended undemocratically for democratically asking the resignations of the corrupt Sushma Swaraj, Vasundhara Raje and Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
The MPYC said that It is indeed a black day for Indian democracy. It said, “Today the voices of dissent is silenced in parliament, tomorrow it will be the common people. If we the citizens of India do nothing to curb these powers, we will soon find ourselves in an environment controlled by “Taliban-like” fundamentalist fanatics.”- By Our Reporter
