People needs to be educated for resolving boundary issue: AP Guv JJ Singh

Shillong, Oct 3: Arunachal Pradesh’s Governor JJ Singh said “educating” the citizens living in the border area is “required” while taking decision on resolving the “inter-state boundary disputes” among the different north eastern states including Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.

“We have to educate the masses whether they are living in Assam or Arunachal Pradesh and vice versa, they (people) being citizens of India would be look equally well by both the states,” Singh told reporters after his meeting with the Meghalaya Governor RS Mooshahary and Chief Minister Mukul Sangma Wednesday.

Singh said, “The inter-state boundary dispute problems should be resolved by also including people views by also safeguarding their interests and rights.”

“It’s better to have solution than let them (people) lingering for so many years,” Singh said while calling upon states in the region to try and resolve the boundary issue at the earliest.

Meanwhile Chief Minister Mukul Sangma said, “We genuinely discuss about the boundary conflicts between north eastern states and we are also trying to find out as to what our other friends (NE states) are doing as they engaged themselves for settlement similar kind of problems with Assam”

Sangma said, “Assam shares boundary not only with Meghalaya but other states like Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh. There is a need to have sincere intentions for settlement of the boundary issues beween the states of the region.” – By Our Reporter
