SHILLONG, JUNE 30: The District Magistrates of the 11 districts of the state have been directed to constitute a committee known as the ‘Local Complaints Committee’ to receive complaints of sexual harassment from establishment where the Internal Complaints Committee has not been constituted because of having less than ten workers or if the complaints are against the employer himself
The direction came through a notification issued on Tuesday asking the DMs to exercise the powers or discharge functions under Section 5 of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Work Place (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (Central Act No. 14 of 2013) within their respective jurisdiction with immediate effect.
The District Magistrate shall constitute the Local Complaints Committee as under Section 7(1) (a) upto (d) of the above mentioned Act immediately, the notification said.- By Our Reporter
