SHILLONG, JUNE 8: The Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress (MPYC)resumed their environmental campaign by commemorating World Environment Day on June 5 by planting trees in various locations.
The commemoration was led by MPYC president Richard Marak and was done simultaneously in various assemblies of MPYC.
“These are really crucial times for the earth. We as the youth of today should be more active towards saving our environment for the coming generations,” Marak said.
Marak also said that commemorating World Environment Day is not a one off thing where we plant trees, make a press release of it, feel good and then wait till next year to do the same things again.
He informed that environmental campaign was started on April 11, by cleaning up a portion of the Ganol river. “Our tree plantation drive and cleaning drive will not end here but we will continue with our campaign,” he added.
A tree plantation drive cum get together was also organised at Chibragre picnic spot by MPYC on June 6.- By Our Reporter
