SHILLONG, APR 25: Days after BJP national president Amit Shah exhorted party workers to expose the corruption of the Congress led state government in the state, Congress responded by asking the saffron party to clean up its stable of corruption in the states ruled by them.

All India Congress Committee (AICC)  general secretary –in-charge of Meghalaya- V Narayanasamy told reporters on Saturday, “I feel sorry for him (Shah). First of all let him clean the corruption in BJP-ruled states.”

Narayanasamy alleged that in Chhattisgarh there is rice procurement scam wherein allegation has been made against the chief minister by Congress party for which Shah has not taken any action.”

Citing a similar case in Madhya Pradesh, Narayanasamy said, “There is a big recruitment scam wherein ministers of Madhya Pradesh government have been put behind the bars but no action was taken by Shah on this too.”

Narayanasamy said with looking at his face in the mirror, Amit Shah is trying to put the accusation on the Congress-ruled states.

Stating that Congress both at centre and state will not tolerate ‘corruption’, Narayanasamy said, “The wild allegations against Meghalaya government by Amit Shah is unfortunate and unacceptable.”

Narayanasamy said he condemns the statement and advised him (Shah) to look towards the BJP-ruled states where corruption is rampant and clean the systems in these states.

Stating that there was ‘cold response’ on the recent visit of Shah, Narayanasamy said, “I am very happy when BJP president came here, people greeted him with a beef party and there was even a bandh called by some organization.”

Narayanasamy accused the BJP of using regional political parties against the Congress in Meghalaya and advised the state Congress to evolve strategies to combat the attempt by the BJP.

Narayanasamy , however, said ironically even the regional political parties’ during the meeting with Shah made it clear that banning of beef and attack on churches will not be accepted.    He claimed =regional parties have also raised the issue related to the National Green Tribunal (NGT)’s ban on coal mining in the state.

Narayanasamy said now it is for the Government of India (GOI) led by Narendra Modi to bring about an amendment in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution through presidential order for exempting Meghalaya from the NGT order. –By Our Reporter
