ARPA wants to meet Guv

SHILLONG, APR 2: The All Regional Parties Alliance (ARPA) on Thursday sought immediate audience of the Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi on the government’s rigid decision to impose the Administrator’s Rule in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).

The decision was taken at a meeting of the ARPA- a coalition alliance comprising of the UDP, HSPDP and KHNAM- following the state government’s decision to stick to its previous decision to impose the Administrator’s Rule in the KHADC.

“We have sought immediate appointment with the Governor to apprise him of the present situation,” one of the ARPA’s MDCs (on request of anonymity) informed.

The MDC said the meeting of the ARPA on Thursday discussed the matter and decided to lead a delegation to the Raj Bhavan as soon as the Governor arrives in the city.

The cabinet on Wednesday decided to stick to its earlier decision of imposing administrator rule in KHADC despite the directive of the Governor’s to review the issue.

The ARPA MDC said the delegation would apprise the Governor that all the 16 MDCs of the ARPA are intact and the alliance have every right to continue in the executive committee (EC).

The Governor had asked the state government to review its decision in the wake that the political situation has change with the resignation of the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the KHADC Adelbert Nongrum.

The ARPA has also informed that the alliance has appointed a designate CEM Metbah Lyngdoh, MDC of the UDP in which a special session is needed to be convened.- By Our Reporter
