SHILLONG, FEB 13: A one day Special Interactive programme organized by the District Public Relations Officer of Khliehriat was held at Rangad Community hall, Rangad where J Dkhar, parliamentary secretary for education, and the local MLA attended as the chief guest and CK Mawkon, Block Development Officer of Khliehriat, East Jaintia hills who attended as the Guest of Honour.
The program was attended by elders of ten villages and the public amidst great enthusiasm.
Speaking during the programme. Dkhar lauded the organizers for organizing such a meaningful program to sensitized the general public on the activities of various departments of the government. He also said that being a new born district such program is needed, to create awareness among the people to have more knowledge on the availability of schemes implementing for the welfare of the people and the district and the state as a whole.
Dkhar also stressed that the elders should not be happy only in knowing but asked them to meet officers of concern department to collection more information, to cooperate and to coordinate with department to implement the same for the betterment of the society. He also urged the officers to dedicate their services for the welfare of the people of the district and to guide them in all respect so that our district will grow faster.
Mawkon said that the programme is to highlight the functions of different line department at the grass root level. He also wishes that more awareness programme of the government will be conducted in district that will educate and motivate the people about the various activities of various government departments.
G. Warjri MCS, Block Development Officer, Saipung C & R.D nlock also participated in the programme. He stress on various schemes implemented by the Block office including MGNREGS, National Social Assistance Programme, IAY, Community Development Scheme and Women Economic Empowerment through financial inclusion.
Later, a special interactive programme was held in which four departments attended including the, District Horticulture Officer, Divisional Soil & Water Conservation Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, Executive Engineer, Water Resources and office of the Executive Engineer PHE who deliberately dwell their speeches on schemes and on implementing the same of their respective departments. Officer also request the general public, specially elders, to extent their cooperation to enable the departments to execute their work successfully for the betterment of the society as a whole.
Other who spoke on the occasion includes Lumlang Bareh, Secretary Shnong, Rangad , who delivered a welcome address, P Lyngdoh, Rangbah Shnong, Rangad who offered a vote of thanks. The meeting was presided over by. R. Susngi, DPRO of Khliehriat.- By Our Reporter
