SHILLONG, FEB 6: The state government on Friday directed all mine owners in Meghalaya to pay the royalty due on the declared extracted coal by February 11 and warned that there shall be no further extension of time for making payment. “All concerned mine owners are directed to deposit the amount of royalty on coal within 14 days in lump-sum as per direction of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) in its order issued on January 29,” Director of Mineral Resources RP Marak said in his order issued on Friday.
Marak said, “To facilitate the process of payment of such royalty in lump-sum, the mine owners can make the payment in any nationalized bank through RTGS system in favour of Director of Mineral Resources, Laitumkhrah Branch, Account no-30841174488, IFSC Code-SBIN0002081, whereupon challans for the amount of the coal assessed at the site for the purpose of transportation only shall be issued.”
“There shall be no further grant of time on this account,” Marak said.
The transport department issued notification specifying the functioning of five more weighbridges to transport coal outside the state.
The newly notified weighbridges are – Rattacherra on NH-44, East Jaintia Hills District, notified on January 23, Dawki-Tamabil, West Jaintia Hills District notified on January 27, Mawpun, West Khasi Hills notified on January 27, Cherragoan, South West Khasi Hills notified on January 28 and Borsora, South West Khasi Hills notified on January 28.- By Our Reporter
