MPYC slams Modi govt

TURA, JAN 12: The Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress-MPYC- termed the Land Acquisition Ordinance 2014 as “anti-farmer”. In a statement issued on Monday, MPYC president Richard Marak said, “The ordinance is black and unjust”.

Marak said that the BJP had stated in its manifesto that minimum support price of 50 per cent over cost of production will be accorded to farmer, which has not been adhered.

“Farmers are facing hardship due to inadequate increase in minimum support price, shortage of urea, inadequate compensation package and increase in taxes on petroleum products”, Marak said.

Marak slammed the Modi led NDA government for the escalating price of petrol and diesel products. “International crude oil prices have come down from $ 110 per barrel in May 2014 to $ 56 per barrel but there is no relieved for the common man”, he added.

Stating that the BJP government has stabbed the farmers, Marak said, “The BJP government through this Black Land ordinance has made it possible and legal for the private players to snatch the farming land and earn profits. This indeed is a New Year gift of the BJP to such profit seeking players.”

Saying that the Modi government has failed to live unto the expectation of the people, he said, “Ache Din is still just a dream? Go beyond Modi Hype, he urged the people.- From Our Correspondent
