SHILLONG, JAN 5: Meghalaya chief minister Mukul Sangma said his government’s main focus in this New Year is to ‘fast-track’ all government’s initiatives undertaken and create faster visibility in term of their implementations.
Sangma told reporters on the sideline of a meeting on Monday, “What is important for the new year will be to ensure that we fast track all our actions in respect of programmes, overcome the challenges in the matters of implementation and ensure complete transparency and make visibility with the complete involvement of the people…that is the focus.”
Stating that the main focus is to create more visibility, Sangma said, “We have embarked upon number of initiatives and we should not over burden ourselves with too many new initiatives but make efforts is to fast track all the initiatives and create faster visibility.”
According to Sangma, there is no question of new initiatives. “When you talk about few big initiatives it also has to commensurate with the capacity of the government to support them with the appropriate resources,” he said.
Highlighting on the initiatives taken by his government, Sangma further informed that the government had taken different new initiatives on the social sectors which include health and education.
Another part is the comprehensive approach to ensure sustainable livelihood for the people so that people wherever they are will obviously have access to opportunities capable of providing them sustainable livelihood whether they are in the village they must feel satisfied to prevent them from moving out of their villages, Sangma added.
Stating that these are few comprehensive action plans which the government has already embarked, Sangma said, “There are major initiative and we are covering the livelihood opportunity which is a crucial issue and also supplement them with our focus on creating better facilities and quality access to education and health”
Sangma said these are multifaceted initiatives under few sectors and now the government focus is to fast tracking them and creating visibility. He pointed out there are lot of initiatives the government has spoken about like the residential schools, Pine Mount International Schools, Engineering institutions. He said all these proposed initiatives got mandate of the assembly to operationalised technical university. – By Our Reporter
