TURA, NOV 12: The chief judicial magistrate court ON Wednesday remanded a rape accused King Victor Marak to 14 day judicial custody. Marak is accused of raping a four and a half year old child from Koinadubi village, near Dalu in West Garo hills.
Following a complaint, a case of rape under relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act was registered against Marak. He was arrested on November 9. The victim’s family filed the FIR on November 8.
The alleged incident took place on November 6, when the victim was playing outside her home.
“As per the victim’s family, the accused lured the girl over some pretext and took her to a nearby location and raped her”, said a police official.
The incident came to light after the girl was found crying in pain. “The victim is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Tura”, the official added.
“A case of rape has been registered with Tura police station under relevant sections of law. The accused has been arrested and sent to judicial custody”, said West Garo hills SP Mukesh Singh.- From Our Correspondent
