TURA, SEPT 16: Meghalaya chief minister Mukul Sangma held a review meeting on Tuesday with deputy commissioners, DRDA, medical, PWD, PHE and other line departments of all the five districts of Garo hills at Tura Circuit House.

The chief minister was accompanied by parliamentary secretary i/c C & RD and MIPR Rophul S Marak and parliamentary secretary i/c water
resources Ashahel D Shira.

During the review meeting, Sangma came upon certain glitches by banks in disbursing seed money to partners under the state’s flagship
Women Economic Empowerment through Financial Inclusion scheme. He urged the banks to rectify the mistakes within a stipulated time span through effective measures.

Perturbed over the still nonoperational Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Tura Civil Hospital which was inaugurated during 2012 by him , Sangma  stated that it was mandatory for the ICU to be operational to cater to referral services.

Sangma added that the principal secretary of health department would be directed to asses the matter and make the ICU operational within 45 days.

To bolster efficiency in medical services Sangma urged all concerned DM&HO to clearly indicate deficit and actual incumbencies of doctors and staff while submitting proposals to the government.

Sangma was also visibly anxious over other discrepancies in the medical department and announced that a commission for inquiry headed by a retired judge would be constituted to investigate anomalies in Tura Civil hospital.

Sangma later reviewed schemes and developmental activities taken up by the PWD (roads) and PHE departments amongst others.- By Our Reporter
