SHILLONG, JULY 15: The Garo Hills State Movement Committee (GHSMC) on Tuesday demanded that the state government issue fresh advertisement for the post of Grade IV in the Meghalaya House in Kolkata.
“In the interest of each and every community of Meghalaya; I earnestly request your good administration to defer the final date of applicants and to make fresh advertisement in English, Garo and Khasi dailies,” GHSMC general secretary Augustine R Marak said in a letter to the GAD minister HDR Lyngdoh.
The last date for submitting the applications for the process of appointing employees for the posts of fourth grade staffs in the Meghalaya House has been fixed on June 30.
However, according to Marak, the advertisement for the posts of processing fourth grade staff was given only in local Khasi dailies and not in others general newspapers of the state including Garo Hills.
“As Meghalaya does not have single traditional local language and at the same time that the Khasi language is not understandable to each and every people of the state, particularly to the Garo community,” he said while urging the department concerned to ensure that there should be free and fair advertisements on this particular matter.
Marak also lamented that the state authorities have ignored the 40 per cent job reservation seat of the Garos many time which has been earmarked as per the Job Reservation Policy, 1972 of the state.
Marak, therefore, said that he urges the authorities concerned to do away the bad practices in near future and appoint the candidates as per the reservation policy.- By Our Reporter
