SHILLONG, JUNE 23: The West Jaintia hills district administration banned Bull fighting and gambling in the district particularly in villages falling under Mihmyntdu, Ialong and Niawmer (7th Mile).
In an order issued on Monday, , the district magistrate has promulgated section 144 Cr.PC based on the complaints received from the public. The order also observed that the conduct of such trade in all respects is injurious and nuisance to physical and comfort of the community.
The district magistrate had also issued a public notice in September 5, 2013 that any act or trade of Bull fighting would attract the legal provision that is in contravention of the Meghalaya Provision of gambling Act 1970 read with section 133 Cr.PC.
